The Social Dilemma - Mini-Review

Updated: Mar 9, 2021

Over the past couple of hours, as I am writing this, my parents and I sat down to watch an intriguing documentary on Netflix called “The Social Dilemma”. It talked about the dangers of excessive engagement with social media, and how its effects on our collective human psyche can only build up from just one click of a button. It starts from the engagement of the individual gazing at his or her phone, then to that same individual being affected by social media, then to how societies or affected by social media, how that affects other people in turn, and ultimately, how global connections and decencies are hanging in the balance because of social media and what we can do to turn the tide to our favor.

If I’m being honest with myself, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more timely or crucial movie done this in a while.

If anyone of you have Netflix, or at the very least, have issues regarding social media, fake news, self-esteem issues, or what have you, you have GOT to see this movie.

It’s a real eye-opener, and if disengaging yourself from social media is step 1, then watching this movie opens a proposition for step 2.
